  1. The Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame is located in Goshen, NY. Their Website gives interesting information about the exhibits; inductees into their Hall of Fame; an interesting collection of Harness Racing Links, and others.

  2. Racing under Saddle, another program from the United States Trotting Association directly involving the Standardbred Breed of horse.

  3. The United States Trotting Association's Standardbred Equestrian Program is an ambitious, multi-faced program designed to promote the Standardbred in all disciplines. The site is definitely worth a visit.

  4. Standardbred Retirement Foundation of New Jersey maintains a database of horses searching for good lifetime homes available in nearly every size, age, and ability. Learn more about their rideable horses or pasture mates by going to their website. It is an organization which has received a number of honors for their work including: The ARCI International Animal Welfare Award; the U.S. Harness Writers Association Proximity Award; and has been the American Association of Equine Practitioners Lavin Cup Finalist.

  Associations/Organizations  
 
  1. The Central Jersey Horseman’s Association is open to all horse enthusiasts. CJHA holds six shows a year that are designed to please exhibitors of all skill levels and disciplines. CJHA welcomes all riders, in all disciplines including Equitation, Hunters, Jumpers, Western Horsemanship, Pleasure as well as Speed.

  2. East Coast Regional Dressage Association is a very detailed site describing all aspects of the sport.

  3. Garden State Horse & Carriage Society was formed in 1990 and is a growing, non-profit organization.  Members include driving enthusiasts, carriage collectors, riders and horse lovers from New Jersey and the neighboring states. GSH&CS hosts a Pleasure Driving Show at the Horse Park of NJ each fall, pleasure drives, clinics and trips.

  4. American Horse Council promotes and protects the equine industry by representing its interests in Congress and in federal regulatory agencies on national issues of importance. It unifies the equine industry by informing industry members of regulations and pending legislation, and by serving as a forum for all member organizations and individuals; and advises and informs government and the industry itself of the equine industry's important role in the United States economy.

  5. New Jersey Horse Council disseminates information about horses and horse farms to the general public and continues the education of horse owners about the care of horses and their environment. It also promotes the interests of the entire horse industry in New Jersey through public information and development of a close working relationship among organizations who recognize the importance of the horse industry to the economic and social well-being of the State of New Jersey.

  6. State Horse Councils Association provides communication among state horse councils, SHCAC, AHC and the general public.

  7. Aniaml Welfare Council supports the use of animals in recreation, entertainment and sport. The AWC is dedicated to advancing the responsible and humane use of animals in these activities.

  8. New Jersey Farm Bureau represents the agricultural producers and enterprises of New Jersey at all levels of government. This representation includes the influence on regulations and laws, creation of positive public relations, and the seeking out of initiatives, activities and ventures to help the profitability of the producer members.

  9. Equestrian Land Conservation Resource is dedicated to promoting access to and conservation of land for equestrian use.

  10. New Jersey State Website - check for equine/farm legislation and legislators on the website. The state website covers information on arts & recreation, business, consumer information, education, employment & unemployment, government, health & social services, public safety & security, as well as information on transportation & motor vehicles.

  11. Animal Emergency Preparedness (Agricultural animals or pets) - provides plain talk on protecting your pets and livestock in the event of a disaster.

  12. Gladstone Equestrian Association is a NJ non-profit founded in 1985 to promote equestrian sports, particularly the sport of combined driving in the US. The GEA annually hosts driving competitions, including the Gladstone Driving Event held in September and the Gladstone Spring Driving Event.



 
 
 

Educational Sites  

 


  1. The Equine Science Center is a program of Cook College at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. It is dedicated to the well being of horses and the continued viability of the equine industry. The Center is recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative teaching and technology, its cutting-edge research, its outreach to the equine industry and its assistance in the creation of policy to promote the economic viability and sustainability of the equine industry. The Equine Science Center is an approved research and outreach facility of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES), the third largest such station in the country. The NJAES also serves as Rutgers University’s largest research unit.

  2. The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) is the world's largest professional association of equine veterinarians. The AAEP's mission is to improve the health and welfare of the horse and to provide resources and leadership for the benefit of the equine industry.

  3. Horse Park of New Jersey from March through November, schedules equine events for most weekends and many weekdays, including frequent multi-day events. The State's equine industry and private, not-for-profit groups worked together to design the Park. It is operated under contract with the Department of Agriculture and the Horse Park of New Jersey, Stone Tavern, Inc., a not-for-profit educational organization.
